Adamo is stepping down for personal reasons with immediate effect. His day-to-day responsibilities, which include overseeing Hyundai’s involvement in the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC), the PURE ETCR series and its Customer Racing operations, will be assumed in the short-term by company President Scott Noh, with support from the respective department managers until a new appointment is announced.
Adamo joined the company in December 2015 to head up the company’s Customer Racing department, which quickly established itself as a successful entity with numerous teams and drivers finding success at the wheel of Hyundai Motorsport-built cars.
Consecutive titles in WTCR - FIA World Touring Car Cup in 2018 and 2019 cemented the company’s reputation for customers around the world. In WRC, Adamo spearheaded two title-winning campaigns, in 2019 and 2020, as the Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC asserted its credentials on the world’s most demanding rally stages, at the hands of rally-winning crews.
Hyundai Motorsport’s preparations for the 2022 season – a new hybrid era of WRC, a second season of ETCR, as well as its Customer Racing activities – remain unaffected by Adamo’s departure. The team is preparing for the start of a new WRC season at Rallye Monte-Carlo from January 20-23.
